Jersey Island to Adopt New Squash Scoring System
The sport of Squash in Jersey Island is going to undergo major changes next month since it will be adapting a new scoring system. This system will reportedly take place in the prestigious Bedell Cristin Squash Team League. The squash balls and squash racquets are definitely going to fly about with players giving their best shot for glory.
The decision was agreed upon by the officials and members of the Jersey Squash and Racquetball Club earlier this week. The decision was to adopt the new PAR scoring system for the team league. However, it will still abide with the traditional scoring process for the individual league competitions.
The officials based the move on the initiative presented by the World Squash Federation earlier this year on the PAR 11 system. The initiative allows now a squash player to win a point in any rally rather than the tradition method of being able to garner points on serve. The game will still be won at 11.
Considering the fast nature of the game, the Jersey League decided to increase the score to 15 and not 11. This will give more court time for the players and longer time for spectators to watch the exciting squash matches.
Jersey Squash Rackets Association President Steve Law believes that this system has been expected at some point. He’s hopeful that the shift in the system will be seen positively by the players because it will be beneficial to the sport in the long run.
